The Ethnological Museum in Dietenheim in the Pusteria Valley is among the most-beautiful outdoor museums of Europe. Covering 4 hectares, it encompasses the picturesque Mair am Hof Farmstead.
The museum was founded in 1976. The Mair am Hof Farmstead is home to several impressive collection of folk art, including a collection of smoking pipes. Old farmer’s homes and craftsmen’s workshops dot the landscape. They will give you insight into the variety of building forms of that era and reflect the social structure of the rustic society of that time. In the gardens, numerous different types of vegetables, therapeutic herbs, and flowers thrive. Farm animals graze in the open fields…
